Training
‘Train the Troops’ is a volunteer program which provides specific training to US Military service men and women who are returning from overseas duty, wounded, and those leaving the military service looking for a career. The training is focused on the low voltage electronics industry, which includes the following systems: * Security Systems * Video Security Systems * Access Control Systems * Fire Alarm Systems * Networking * Residential Audio Video Systems Train the Troops curriculum focuses on application based knowledge, code requirements, standard industry practices and systems design. On the job training is the responsibility of the low voltage contractor and should include wiring methods, local code requirements, specific company standards and practices as well as any other core training. Students get the following Professional Reference Books at no charge: NTC Red Book – NICET Testing & Certification Study Guide NTC NTC Blue Book - Low Voltage Systems Design and Installation NTC Yellow Book - CCTV Systems Design and Installation NTC Purple Book - Access Control Systems Design and Installation NTC Brown Book - Fire Alarm Systems Design and Installation NTC Green Book – Residential Audio/Video Systems Design and Installation Training Subject Time (hours) Part 1 Introduction to Part 2 General Wiring & System Design 1 Part 3 Industry Codes & Standards 1 Part 4 Security Systems 1 1 Part 5 Security Systems 2 1 Part 6 Video Systems 1 1 Part 7 Video Systems 2 1 Part 8 Access Control Systems 1 1 Part 9 Access Control Systems 2 1 Part 10 Fire Alarm Systems 1 1 Part 11 Fire Alarm Systems 2 1 Part 12 Basic Networking 1 In addition, each student will be required to complete online training components in order to receive a certificate of completion and graduate from the program. The online components consist of the following: Security Systems 8 Video Security Systems 8 Access Control Systems 8 Fire Alarm Systems 8 Networking 8 Total 40 hours Each student will be required to take and pass the tests associated with each online training segment. Once all segments have been completed, the student will receive their certificate of training. Additionally their information will be forwarded to WildBullet for job placement.
Train The Troops students get almost $3,000 worth of training and materials at no charge. The course work is intended to provide detailed specific requirements and standard industry practices for the low voltage contracting field. The course work focuses on practical applications, based in academic training.
